Mississippi Repertory Theatre is a new professional theatre company in residence at the historic Coliseum Theatre. MSREP is excited to start their new adventure in Corinth. Jason Patrick Hudson, a Corinth native recently returning from a residency with the Barter Theatre in Abington, VA, serves as the Executive Artistic Director.
Hudson says, “I am excited to start this important work to bring professional quality shows to North Mississippi.” Hudson aspires for Mississippi Repertory Theatre to become a member of the League of Resident Theatres (LORT). This elite group of regional theatres strive to promote theatre throughout the United States by providing performance and educational opportunities at the highest possible level.
“Professional theatre contributes to an arts economy. Mississippi Repertory Theatre will be hiring artists, craftsmen, and technicians from throughout the local area to help produce these shows.” Hudson excitedly added, “This company will give many people a reason to journey to Corinth as well, increasing local tourism. When is the last time you drove two to three hours to attend an event? Corinth can be that destination for many seeking performance and arts opportunities.”
Mississippi Repertory Theatre will be offering a partial season this fall with the first full season to start in January. Tickets will go on sale soon! For more information, visit www.msrep.org.
